Canada’s 17th CC-130J is Complete

The 17th of 17 CC-130Js built for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) completed final painting this week. Following acceptance flights the aircraft is scheduled for delivery in early May. The aircraft is shown being piped from the paint hangar by Major Allan MacKenzie, the RCAF Detachment Commander at Lockheed Martin in Marietta. C-130 helps Santa Claus in Alaska

An Alaska Air National Guard C-130 Hercules, acting as Santa’s sleigh, keeps warm in sub-zero temperatures on the ground near the village of Allakaket, Alaska, during an Operation Santa Claus mission, Nov. 19, 2011. The last two of seventeen CC-130Js currently on order for the Royal Canadian Air Force have reached the front of the production line at the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta.  Canada has already received 13 of its new fleet and will receive the final four by mid 2012. Read more

Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan Colonel Sean Friday, Wing Commander 8 Wing Trenton, receives military compliments in the form of a General Salute from the airmen and airwomen of the Tactical Airlift Unit during the TAU’s cease-ops ceremony on November 16, 2011 at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. Four on the Floor

The four aircraft that will complete Canada’s current order for 17 CC-130J Super Hercules are nearing the end of the production line at Lockheed Martin’s facility in Marietta. These aircraft will be delivered to Canada in the first half of next year with the final delivery in June. Canada’s new CC-130J fleet has already seen operational use for a wide range of missions including the support of deployed forces, emergency evacuation and search and rescue. Read more

Parajumpers jump from the Royal Canadian Air Force’s newest capability: the CC-130J Hercules
