Canada’s First CC-130J Closer to Completion

During the evening of December 7th, the first two of Canada’s 17 CC-130Js moved to the front of the production line in Marietta. The CC-130J on the left in the photo below is the first and is in the position for interior trim. The CC-130J on the right is in the final assembly position. C-130J Number One Moves To The Front

During the night on November 19th, the first of Canada’s 17 CC-130Js was moved to the final position on the Marietta production line.  Following trim and leak testing, the aircraft will be heading to the Marietta facility’s south campus for paint and flight testing. Read more

Props Installed on Canada’s First CC-130J

Canada’s first CC-130J continues its steady progress down the production line in Marietta, Georgia.   Its distinctive six-bladed propellers are now installed.  It is followed on the line by Canada’s second aircraft.  Deliveries to Canada begin in the spring of 2010. Read more

Canada’s first CC-130J comes together

Today, the first of 17 CC-130Js for Canada began the next major step in the assembly process at the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia.  ‘Body Mate’ brings together the main fuselage, the front cab section and the vertical and horizontal stabilizers.  The aircraft will soon be able to rest on its own, Canadian built, landing gear. Canada is on the line

The cargo floor of the first Canadian CC-130J is officially on the production line at Lockheed Martin in Marietta, Georgia. The floor, which was built at Lockheed Martin’s subassembly plant in Meridian, Mississippi, was delivered to Marietta earlier this week. Scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2010, this bird has a few more steps to go through before it starts to look like a J.  Click for full size image. Read more

Canada’s new workhorse debuts on C-130J line

April marked the arrival of the first two Canadian C-130Js (CC-130Js) on Lockheed Martin’s Marietta, Ga.-based production line. Currently known as Lockheed Martin tail numbers 5626 and 5627, these two planes are part of Canada’s order of 17 C-130Js. Lockheed Martin invests $1.5 million in the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology

Lockheed Martin today announced funding of $1.5 million for the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology to support the creation of Saskatchewan’s first, Transport Canada-licensed Aerospace Maintenance Engineering (AME) training program.  Opening Song at Saskatoon International Airport. Lockheed Martin invests $4 million in the University of New Brunswick

Lockheed Martin today announced funding of $4 million for the University of New Brunswick to support the work of the University’s new research centre – the High-Speed Impact Research and Technology Facility – which will concentrate on the development of new forms of impact-resistant materials and structures.  Lockheed Martin’s contribution will be used to purchase specialized launching and test equipment and to fund impact testing and materials research.  The Honourable Jim Prentice, Minister of Industry, welcomed the news.
