RCAF CC-130Js mark 5000 hours of flight time

The following is from 8 Wing/CFB Trenton Public Affairs: 436 Squadron proudly marked the 5,000th hour of flying time with the CC-130J Hercules aircraft on Monday, 6 February 2012. “Last Friday was a significant day for 8 Wing as we marked the five thousandth hour of CC-130J’s flight time,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Colin Keiver, Commanding Officer 436 Transport Squadron. “This is a remarkable achievement considering the first J model Herc was delivered to 8 Wing Trenton just over a year ago.” The 5,000th hour ... Marine Corps KC-130J Hercules in Afghanistan

Maj. Butler, the commanding officer of the Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron detachment in Afghanistan, talks about how the Marine Corps uses the KC-130J in Afghanistan. Maj. Butler and the Marines of VMGR-252 are deployed out of Cherry Point, N.C. The KC-130J Hercules is the largest aircraft in the Marine Corps arsenal. Read more

Parajumpers jump from the Royal Canadian Air Force’s newest capability: the CC-130J Hercules

Photos from CC-130J ISS Team and IRB Announcement Event

Photos from yesterday’s announcement event at the Canada Aviation Museum in Ottawa. Tony Frese (shown below), Lockheed Martin program manager for the Canadian CC-130J project, announced the Canada In-Service Support Team for the CC-130J fleet and $1.5 billion Industrial Regional Benefits confirmed to date under the CC-130J program, including $307 million for companies in Ontario.  News Release The Honourable Tony Clement (shown below), Minister of Industry, then welcomed the news that Lockheed Martin is providing in-service support contracts to businesses across Canada ... Canada’s First CC-130J Painted

The first Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules produced for Canada leaves the company’s paint facility in Marietta, Georgia.  Canada’s new fleet of 17 C-130Js will fly farther, faster, with more payload and much higher reliability than Canada’s older C-130s. All the new aircraft will be delivered over the next two years starting in the spring of 2010. Read more

Canada’s First CC-130J Closer to Completion

During the evening of December 7th, the first two of Canada’s 17 CC-130Js moved to the front of the production line in Marietta. The CC-130J on the left in the photo below is the first and is in the position for interior trim. The CC-130J on the right is in the final assembly position. The aircraft will be delivered in the spring of 2010. Read more

C-130J Number One Moves To The Front

During the night on November 19th, the first of Canada’s 17 CC-130Js was moved to the final position on the Marietta production line.  Following trim and leak testing, the aircraft will be heading to the Marietta facility’s south campus for paint and flight testing. Read more
